about

ebere agwuncha is a designer, maker and artist currently based in Chicago via Nigeria. She earned an Industrial Design degree from Iowa State University in 2019, and has since been working on several interdisciplinary projects extending into community building, space activation and care advocacy. They are currently a part of the place keeping initiative - in ℅: Black women as a contributor, facilitator, and designer. They have also worked with local groups including Norman Teague Design Studios, ‘Mobilize! Creative Blocks, Collective Dreams’, Alt_, Okpara House, and The Buxton Initiative.

They are currently establishing her foundations for a practice involving ‘care filled object(s)’ while channeling an igbo-nigerian heritage. She refers to the design-duo dach & zephir with their mission to “transfer history, habits and cultural contrast into objects,” and for the moment this guiding language is bridging her thoughts, hands, approach and intuition. By expanding the narrative and acknowledging the vast histories that exist within the Black diaspora, she can reclaim space and preserve these stories through more expansive iterations.
